THE AAPC FOUNDATION AI VOTER STUDY

The AAPC Foundation commissioned a national survey of 1,568 likely 2026 general election voters to better understand how artificial intelligence is becoming part of the election information environment.

Conducted September 14–22, 2026, the study examines how voters encounter and use AI, how much they trust it, and how they feel about campaigns using AI in political communications. It also explores voter attitudes toward issues including AI-generated election information, fact-checking, candidate research, and deepfakes.

This is the first edition of the research, which the Foundation plans to repeat over time to track how voter use of and trust in AI evolve.
