Students Apply for Grants

The application form is a fillable pdf file.  Fill it out completely electronically, then “Save a Copy”.  Note that the application requires a signature.  You may provide an electronic signature, or print out the completed application, sign it and either scan it as a pdf or mail in the printed application.

Completed applications forms should be sent as a pdf file to apply@theaapc.org.  Please include applicant’s last name as part of the file name.

  1. Applicants must either be full-time undergraduate women students attending a 4-year accredited college / university or full-time graduate women
  2. Applicants must be majoring in a field of communications, political science, political communications, statistics, sociology or campaign management and/or demonstrate a strong aptitude for a career in political consulting. Graduate applicants must be getting their masters degree in political science, public policy/public administration, statistics/data science, survey methodology, or a masters degree related to politics.
  3. Applicants must be US citizens

*AAPC Foundation will not award scholarships to applicants who are not qualified and reserves the right not to award a scholarship in any given year.*

  1. Demonstrated or expressed interest in political science, political communications or campaign management
  2. Student essay
  3. Letters of recommendation
  4. Academic standing (minimum required cumulative GPA of 3.50)

The AAPC Foundation Lake / DiVall Fellowship Scholarship Committee will review and select finalists.  Finalists will be interviewed and the Committee will select scholarship recipients.  Recipients will be notified by the Foundation Director. 

To be considered for an AAPC Foundation Lake / DiVall Fellowship Scholarship, applicants must complete an application and return it to AAPC Foundation by Friday, October 25th, 2024.  The application must include:

  1. A completed application form. Only completed application forms will be considered. FOUND HERE
  2. Two letters of recommendation with at least one from a teacher or school official at the college level.
  3. An official college transcript for the last two years including GPA
  4. A one-page (<500 words) essay answering the below prompt
    All four of the above items must be submitted before the application will be considered.
 

In your own words, discuss the importance of empowering women in the field of political consulting, and how you envision leveraging this fellowship opportunity to contribute to the advancement of gender equality and representation in the political arena. Additionally, share specific examples from your past experiences or aspirations that demonstrate your commitment to making a positive impact in this field.

Letters of recommendation should be sent as pdf files (with the name of the applicant as part of the file name) directly from the author to apply@theaapc.org. Alternatively, letters can be mailed to the AAPC Foundation at the mailing address above.  The letter should indicate the capacity in which the letter writer knows the applicant, e.g. as a student, employee, or other capacity.
